About this guide

Detroit Bakery is an independent guide to bakeries in Detroit and the cities around it. It exists because the useful facts about a bakery, the ones that decide whether you can actually buy what you need, are scattered, unpublished, or out of date everywhere else.

What it tries to do

Answer the specific questions a listing site does not. How far ahead do I have to order a cake. Who is open on Sunday. Who sells paczki in August. What does the bakery itself say about vegan options. We keep a deliberately small number of listings, currently 11, and re-check them, rather than publishing hundreds we cannot maintain.

What it is not

It is not a review site, and we do not rank bakeries by quality. We have not eaten at all of these places and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is not affiliated with any bakery, and a listing is not an endorsement. It is not a lead broker: we do not collect your details and sell them on.

How it makes money

Right now, it does not. If that changes it will be through clearly labelled sponsored placement, sold to bakeries, shown in its own area and never mixed into the ordinary listings. Paying will never buy a better position in the standard list, a change to the facts, or removal of anything accurate. Free listings stay free.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, pleasetell us. Corrections from a bakery about its own details get priority and we aim to fix them within a week. We would rather be corrected than be wrong.
